The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are respective federal agencies responsible for border security, immigration enforcement and deportations.
The CBSA's activities are largely equivalent to ICE and Border Patrol.
Yet, the news aren't talking about them. And yes, until recently, they were the only major Canadian law enforcement agency without an independent civilian oversight body.
CBSA Enforced Removals Per Year
2025: 22,500
2024: 17,383
2023: 15,220
2022: 8,328
2021: 7,513
2020: 12,851
2019: 11,271
*I understand the numbers are smaller but the U.S. has a far bigger population and more people coming and going. There have been abuses noticed in the Canadian side and so finally an oversight body has been created by law. But still relatively, media has kept away from reporting about them.
